Roseville Civic Center
Roseville, CA
Interface provided mechanical and electrical
design for this project, completed in May of
2002. The project involved the expansion
of the Roseville Civic Center with a 54,447
SF addition and 17,457 SF remodel of existing
space. Not only does the center provide a central
location for all permit processing and bill
paying for this community of 92,000 residents,
it also serves as a gathering place for locals
and visitors. The
design team, led by architectural firm Williams
+ Paddon, set about to meet the city's wish
for a civic but restrained building, rich in
character but modest in budget. They used
distinct architectural forms and historically
significant building materials, primarily granite,
to reflect the city's desire for a building
that reflects the history of the area while
accommodating present and future needs. The
Roseville Civic Center project has served as
a catalyst for revitalization of the central
city urban core that had experienced a steady
decline in use and vitality over the past 25
years. While the “one-stop”
permit center is designed to serve the business
needs of the city, the block-wide plaza was
designed to serve as the city’s “living
room” for many years to come.
