Valley Communications Center
Kent, WA
Valley Communications, an organization of five
communities in Southern King County, has been
serving citizens since 1977. When their
call volume grew to 427,000 calls per year,
it was time to move from their 6,000 SF facility.
Interface was involved in the construction of
a new 23,000 SF 911 center for Valley Communications,
providing all mechanical, electrical, lighting
and fire protection/life safety design services
for the project. The mechanical design included
redundant systems for heating, ventilating and
air conditioning. Fire protection systems
involved a pre-action sprinkler system in the
data and call areas with a wet fire sprinkler
system in the remainder of the facility.
The electrical design included an on-site standby
power generator with capacity to serve the entire
building load, and a parallel-redundant on-line
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system that
provides uninterrupted power to the critical
communications loads.
