Retail Engineering Projects

Fred Meyer, Interstate Store
Portland, OR Reflecting the
steady growth of the bustling north Portland
neighborhood, a new 140,000 SF Fred Meyer store
— 30,000 SF larger than the former building
— opened in December 2004. Built on the
same site as their previous store, site restrictions
required it to be designed to their newer two-story
prototype. Interface contributed mechanical,
electrical, plumbing and lighting design specifications,
with special effects in the Ladies’ Clothing
departments, demonstrating the promotional benefits
of creating interest with lighting.
