Retail Engineering Projects

Redmond Town Center
Redmond, WA
Redmond Town Center encompasses approximately
1.4 million SF, and houses retail stores, restaurants,
and professional office space. This project
was unusually challenging because the spaces
were not defined during the design phase.
An extensive amount of attention went into making
the spaces adaptable for either retail or office
occupants. Interface provided full mechanical
and electrical engineering services for the
project. The mechanical design included
plumbing, fire protection, drainage, and HVAC
for the offices, some retail facilities, and
interstitial spaces. The electrical portion
of the project consisted of site lighting, complete
power distribution, and leading edge “smart”
panels that automatically control exhaust fans,
lighting and power distribution. Interface’s
fire protection engineers provided specifications
and submittal reviews, and negotiated with the
fire marshal. Interface also coordinated
all of the retail tenants’ mechanical
and electrical requirements, directing placement
of all mechanical equipment in bullpens.
This provides flexibility for future expansion
and construction of retail facilities.
