Bay Area Hospital

Interface Engineering provided full MEP design for a major wing addition to Bay Area Hospital—the facility’s largest expansion since it was built in 1974.

Coos Bay, Oregon

Client: ZGF Architects

Building Size: 109,000 sf

Project Cost: $41 million

The mechanical and electrical systems incorporated several energy-efficient design strategies, including a heat recovery chiller that’s predicted to save over $40,000/year, 96 percent high efficiency boilers and low temperature heating water, variable air volume supply and return air tracking, ventilation systems will improve indoor air quality, and high-efficiency air filters will help prevent airborne infections, water use reduction strategies including lower flow plumbing fixtures, and occupancy and daylighting controls.
