Kyleen Rockwell to Present at SimBuild 2026

May 14, 2026

Interface Engineering is pleased to share that Kyleen Rockwell will present at SimBuild 2026, hosted by IBPSA-USA in Minneapolis from May 20–22, 2026. As a leading conference for building performance simulation, SimBuild brings together practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to advance high-performance building design and the integration of modeling with operational outcomes.

Kyleen will contribute to two sessions on May 21, focused on evolving energy codes, federal project requirements, and career pathways in building simulation.

Navigating High-Performance Building Standards and Energy Codes

Kyleen will join a national panel exploring how increasingly stringent energy codes and performance thresholds are shaping building design and compliance strategies. As jurisdictions adopt advanced requirements, teams must respond to new metrics, modeling expectations, and verification pathways.

The session will address:

  • Key barriers to meeting high-performance energy codes
  • Practical, experience-based compliance strategies
  • The role of building performance simulation in achieving code compliance

Panelists will share insights into major standards, including Washington State Energy Code, Washington, DC’s Appendix Z, Massachusetts Stretch Code, California Title 24, Denver Energy Code, and federal (DoD) requirements. Kyleen will specifically address energy requirements for federal projects and their implications for high-performance design.

Careers in Building Performance Simulation

In a second session, Kyleen will participate in a panel focused on career development in building simulation. Bringing together professionals across consulting, research, academia, and software development, the discussion will explore pathways at all stages of the profession.

Topics include:

  • Entering the building simulation field
  • Navigating mid-career transitions
  • Building long-term impact in high-performance design

This interactive session invites participants to engage directly with panelists and explore the evolving role of simulation in the built environment.

Kyleen’s participation contributes to ongoing industry dialogue around high-performance design, energy modeling, and evolving energy and sustainability standards.
