Under Armour Global Headquarters Receives 2026 Wood in Architecture Award

Jun 11, 2026

Interface Engineering is proud to celebrate the recognition of the Under Armour Global Headquarters as a recipient of the 2026 Wood in Architecture Award from WoodWorks. The annual program honors projects that demonstrate excellence in design, innovative use of wood, sustainability, resilience, and market impact. Selected from a field of 82 submissions, the project was named one of only eight award winners by an independent jury of industry leaders.

Located in Baltimore’s Peninsula district, the five-story headquarters showcases how mass timber can elevate workplace design while advancing ambitious sustainability goals. The approximately 280,000-square-foot facility combines glulam columns and beams with cross-laminated timber floor systems, creating a warm, high-performance environment that supports collaboration, employee wellbeing, and environmental stewardship.

According to WoodWorks, the project demonstrates how large-scale commercial buildings can successfully utilize Type IV-C mass timber construction while achieving exceptional performance. Designed to LEED Platinum, WELL Platinum, and net-zero operational energy standards, the headquarters reflects Under Armour’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and its hometown of Baltimore.

Interface Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, energy modeling, and sustainability consulting services for the project. Working alongside Gensler, Thornton Tomasetti, and Whiting-Turner, our team helped deliver a workplace that pairs leading-edge building performance with a distinctive architectural expression.

We extend our congratulations to Under Armour and the entire project team on this prestigious recognition.
